Global green energy awards: 2009 winners announced
全球绿色能源奖： 2009年得奖者公布
London, 20.00 hrs: Tonight, the world’s leading green energy prize awarded over ￡200,000 in prizes to seven international schemes that are saving thousands of tonnes in carbon emissions and benefiting communities around the globe. The 2009 Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy were presented by HRH the Prince of Wales.

Six international Ashden Awards and an Award for Outstanding Achievement by a previous international winner were also made at the Ceremony on 11 June:

USA/China: Aprovecho Research Center (ARC) based in Oregon, and Shengzhou Stove Manufacturer (SSM)in China, is this year’s Energy Champion. The Aprovecho Research Centre in the US and Shenghou Stove Manufacturers in China have pooled their rich experience and skills to produce portable, cheap and efficient fuel-wood stoves in high volume production for global developing countries. The stoves replace dirty and polluting kerosene and open fires saving up to 50 percent of fuel wood and reducing 70 percent of dangerous emissions. 60,000 stoves have been sold since 2008, The main customer is Envirofit International, which markets stoves in India supported by the Shell Foundation. Other customers are in South Africa, Tanzania, Madagascar, Argentina and Chile with production capacity now at 50,000 stoves per month.
